No to assembly-line photography! Coffee-colored skin + soft lighting, this set of photos is stunningly textured.

I really love these photos with soft lighting, especially the ones taken at the bar counter. They feel so artistic, evoking the cinematic vibe of a wealthy Shanghai lady from the Republic of China era.

The other photos where the subject isn’t looking at the camera are also incredibly beautiful. Her skin isn’t that fair and flawless, but paired with the gentle lighting, this coffee-colored skin gives me a very textured feel.

I once again realize that an excellent work doesn’t necessarily have to follow the assembly-line conventions, like looking directly at the camera or striking some standard poses with hand gestures. I find this insight extremely inspiring.
