Viltrox always brings surprises, and this time is no exception. The newly launched product is the AF 15mm F1.7 Air, priced at 1,199 yuan, available in Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Fujifilm XF-mount.
This lens is an APS-C format lens, with a viewing angle equivalent to 22mm in full-frame FX format. It has a maximum aperture of F1.7, a minimum aperture of F16, and a closest focusing distance of 0.23 meters. It features 9 aperture blades, an STM focusing motor, and a filter diameter of 58mm. The X-mount and XF-mount versions weigh 180 grams, while the Z-mount version weighs 195 grams.
It consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses, 3 high-refractive-index lenses, and 2 aspherical lenses, with quite sufficient material selection.
The edge performance of its MTF curve is average, which is understandable. After all, it is a wide-angle lens, but the sharpness at the center is extremely high, showing the due level.
Viltrox has fully considered users' needs in this product, that is, what subjects it can shoot. Because many people do not shoot architecture or travel landscapes. At this time, the虚化 effect (bokeh effect) and close-up shooting capability enable it to cover more subjects, such as portraits, insects, and items.
For example, it can capture female portraits from a boyfriend's perspective with a good bokeh effect in the background, which greatly expands the application range of wide-angle lenses.
Another example is shooting a girl turning around, which is particularly suitable to be achieved with a wide-angle lens and also a signature move.
In addition, the simultaneous launch of the three mounts is quite sincere, because users of any mount do not want to wait another 4 or 5 months.
Finally, Viltrox has also completed a series of four Air prime lenses, covering the focal length range from 22mm to 85mm, with small differences in weight, which is convenient for replacement on stabilizers and facilitates video creation.
So, for this product, if you have an APS-C camera, will you consider it?
