Temmon Device Review 3

Optical brand Xingyao officially launched the AF 35mm f/1.8 autofocus prime lens, compatible with full-frame Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount. Priced at 1,699 yuan, it offers performance close to that of original lenses at one-third of the cost.

Equipped with an STM stepping motor, it claims to have fast focusing with micrometer-level precision, quiet operation, and accurate performance, compatible with Sony/Nikon's eye-detection AF. It has extremely low focus breathing effect, with minimal changes in the field of view during focusing, ensuring smooth focus switching in videos. The aperture ring of the E-mount version can be switched to a stepless mode to meet the needs of smooth exposure adjustment in videos. The Nikon Z-mount version has no aperture ring due to body limitations.

The optical structure adopts an 8-group, 11-element design, including 2 aspherical lenses, 1 ED low-dispersion lens, and a pair of Hoya high-refractive-index lenses. When fully open at f/1.8, it will have excellent edge sharpness, outstanding chromatic aberration control and anti-glare ability, natural out-of-focus transition, and soft bokeh. The E-mount version is 88mm long, 75mm in diameter, and weighs 420g; the Z-mount version is 90mm x 75mm, weighs 430g, has a filter diameter of 62mm, and features dust and splash resistance. It is equipped with a USB-C port, but the software upgrade only supports the Windows system.

Review of Xingyao AF 35mm f/1.8 Lens

The Xingyao AF 35mm f/1.8 is priced at $250. For reference, the Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S is approximately $790, and the Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 is about $600.

The Xingyao AF 35mm f/1.8 enters the market with ultimate cost performance and targeted video optimization. Its paper specifications and design indicate that it aims for professional-grade performance. Whether it can truly shake the position of original lenses depends on the performance of actual optical quality and autofocus stability. If the actual measurement meets the standards, it will become a strong candidate for full-frame users with limited budgets, especially for Z-mount users.
